Deputy Chairman of TVT Nick 'Mac' McKenzie, completed the New York City Marathon on 6th November 2022! Raising to date £1200, for the charity Fisher House UK.
Mac, who is a WO2 in the Royal Logistic Corps, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, ran for the charity Fisher House UK 🇬🇧. Fisher House offers a home away from home for injured military personnel, many of whom served in Iraq and Afghanistan and continue to return to the hospital for more surgery, and personnel who are receiving treatment for illness – from cancer care to transplants. Guests have described Fisher House as 'one big hug' and 'a place that takes away all your problems'. It costs the charity £25 a night to host a military family in their time of need. A small amount that can make a huge difference.
Mac said, 'this was without a doubt toughest run I have done in my life in very testing conditions every part of me aching and sores. I wasn’t marathon ready due to long recovery from injury but still reached the finish line definitely out of my comfort zone. The support was amazing from family and friends who made the trip but also every inch of the way from enthusiastic New Yorkers. Thank you to all who donated and sent good luck messsges it all helped me get over the finish line'.
Well done Mac, all of us at TVT are immensely proud of you!
